First and foremost, on behalf of the Committee and Ambulance Volunteers at the St John Ambulance Waroona Sub Centre, I'd like to wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy festive season.
Please take care when driving. Don't drive tired, don't drink and drive and please leave in plenty of time so that you don't become impatient whilst behind the wheel. Our extremely hard working volunteers (including me) will be available to attend callouts but to be really honest, we prefer not to see anyone but our families (no offence) over the Christmas season because that means our community is safe and healthy.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge and thank the long suffering families that support our ambos. They have to put up with a lot of disruption at times and I'm sure my colleagues would join me in saying that we appreciate the support and comfort they give us throughout the year.
Ambulance Volunteers
In the New Year I have decided to do a small piece on one of our ambos each month. These local members of our town who make up our band of merry ambos are quite the bunch of comedians at times and I guess this will be my "payback" for all the practical jokes and teasing about my "blonde moments" (there have been a few more of those than I would like). If there is anything in particular you would like to know about the people who give up their time to help the community please let Carol know at the Sub Centre and I will endeavour to do my utmost to get answers out of the crew.
Senior First Aid Course
The next Senior First Aid course is being held on the 19th and 20th February 2011. Our hard working (well that's what they say) First Aid Trainers are having a break over the Christmas period. Call Carol on 9733 2122 to book your place as these courses tend to fill quickly.
Reminders
St John Ambulance Benefit Fund Membership is $70 for family cover which includes children up to 18 years of age. Single membership is $40.00. You must reside within the Shire of Waroona to become a member of the Waroona Sub Centre's benefit fund.
Please remember that if you have a newborn, you must update your membership details so that bub is covered.
"You may not have 40,000 fans chanting your name, or press photographers watching your every move. But there is someone out there who owes you their life."
St John Ambulance relies on locals to volunteer their own time to run this vital community service. To retain it they need people like you who care enough to get involved.

A St John Ambulance Volunteer is an important person, someone who donates a few hours of their time to put something back into the community.
We are always looking for more people to help our small group of hard working ambulance volunteers. If you can spare some of your time to learn life saving skills and give something back to the community that you live in please feel free to contact our Secretary, Carol Racco on 9733 2122 on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 9:00am and 1:30pm or visit our website www.waroonaambulance.com.au
