Shire of Waroona Volunteer's Breakfast
Article Date: 4th January, 2011 | 787 Views | 0 Comment(s)
Saturday 4th December saw the morning dawn very windy as volunteers from different programs throughout the community gathered to enjoy a breakfast hosted by the Shire of Waroona and ably cooked by some of our local Councillors. It was quite entertaining to see some of our more well known Councillors pitching in and getting their hands greasy.
A highlight of the morning was the introduction of the Youth Contributing to the Community Award (YCCA). This is a new initiative by the Shire of Waroona to identify and acknowledge young people in the community who are contributing in a positive way to make our community a better place. The successful nominee will be asked to name a local cause or charity of their choice to receive a donation of $100 (sponsored by Alcoa). St John Ambulance Waroona were lucky enough to be a recipient of one of the first awards.
Our greatful thanks go to Billy Harbour for nominating SJA Waroona and for acknowledging the work that we do. Also a big congratulations to Billy for getting out there and making a difference in our community.
