Can ambulances drive with lights and sirens on?

Yes, we can drive with lights and sirens if:

  • We are driving an ambulance that is fitted with them;
  • The ambulance has been registered as an emergency vehicle
  • We have been trained in emergency driving
  • The call that we are doing is a priority 1 emergency
  • It is safe to do so

That said, should we have an accident, then it obviously was not safe to do so and we can be as liable as any other member of the public.
