Silver Threads Band Comes to Waroona9th July, 2007
About 80 people thoroughly enjoyed the Brass Band Concert which was staged as a thank-you to the people of Waroona for their generosity in giving to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. The band led by Irwin Palmer presented a fine selection of music, from medleys of Scottish tunes, Strauss, popular hymns and stirring melodies from years gone by. For many of the audience it was a trip down memory lane. Percussion instruments were handed out and the participants joined in with the band with enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment.
Major Brian Davis from the Mandurah Corps presented certificates to the people who helped with the Red Shield collecting and announced that a total of $2,416.90 was raised in the area.
At the conclusion of the concert afternoon tea was enjoyed by everyone. Feedback from the Band was that they had a great time too.
